CleanTech 100

Sodium Chlorite Water Treatment for Oilfield Operations

A powerful oxidizing agent used to generate chlorine dioxide on-site for microbial control in frac and produced-water systems.

Overview

CleanTech 100 is a sodium chlorite based oxidant used to generate chlorine dioxide on-site for frac and produced-water treatment.

It provides selective microbial control across high-TDS and variable water conditions, helping protect assets, improve water quality, and support higher reuse rates in hydraulic fracturing programs.

Use Cases

  • Microbial control in frac and produced water

  • Corrosion and H₂S mitigation in water systems

  • Water recycling and reuse operations

Outcomes

  • Reduced microbial load across diverse water chemistries

  • Improved protection of tubulars, tanks, and pipelines from microbially influenced corrosion and souring

  • More consistent, reuse-ready water quality for large frac campaigns

Features

CleanTech 100 is a core piece of the Water Treatment platform, working alongside bleach, peracetic acid, hydrogen peroxide, and PAC to prepare, protect, and condition water before drilling begins. It is used where operators need robust microbial control and souring mitigation while enabling aggressive water recycling strategies.

  • Sodium chlorite precursor for on-site chlorine dioxide generation

  • Effective against sulfate-reducing and slime-forming bacteria in high-TDS frac water

  • Selective oxidant that targets microbes and problem species while minimizing impact on friction reducers when dosed correctly

  • Supports control of odor and dissolved H₂S in water systems

  • Compatible with central water-treatment, pipeline, and on-location frac setups

  • In field use, sodium-chlorite-based programs have been used to lower bacterial counts, manage H₂S, and support higher reuse percentages in frac-water systems. CleanTech 100 is applied as part of integrated water-treatment trains to maintain consistent water quality from source, through storage, to the blender.

    • Supports low bacterial counts in high-TDS reuse water

    • Helps reduce odor and sour conditions in storage ponds and tanks

    • Contributes to more stable friction reducer performance by controlling biological loading upstream

    • Continuous or batch treatment of source, produced, and flowback water at central recycling facilities

    • Treatment of storage ponds, above-ground tanks, and pipeline loops feeding frac locations

    • On-site dosing ahead of the blender to maintain microbial control during active frac stages

    • Programs targeting souring control and odor reduction in water systems tied to H₂S

Water-treatment providers, production and facilities engineers, frac and completions engineers, and midstream water managers.

  • Form and Delivery

    • Supplied as a sodium chlorite solution designed for use in chlorine dioxide generation systems.

    • Fed via metering pumps into on-site ClO₂ generators or directly into treatment points as specified by EOS programs.

    Integration

    • Integrates with existing water-treatment infrastructure, including storage ponds, tanks, pipelines, and modular treatment units.

    • Can be combined with coagulants, oxidants, and filtration systems as part of a staged treatment train designed by EOS and the operator.

  • CleanTech 100 is a sodium chlorite based oxidizing product. Final hazard classification, physical hazards, and environmental hazards must follow the latest EOS CleanTech 100 SDS.

    Handling & PPE

    • Use PPE as specified in the SDS (for example, appropriate gloves, eye and face protection, and chemical-resistant clothing where required).

    • Avoid contact with incompatible materials and follow site oxidizer-handling procedures.

    Regulatory notes

    • Transport classification, regulatory listings, and any special environmental or reporting requirements must be taken directly from the EOS CleanTech 100 SDS.

    • Always refer to the latest EOS CleanTech 100 SDS for full hazard, handling, storage, transport, and disposal information.
